*** ABA's Suddenly Solo resources
Given the economic situation, the ABA webzine Law Practice Today decided to opt for a Suddenly Solo theme issue for July 2009.
*** New Student Debt Relief Programs and Resources
Student debt hasn’t made the recession easier for lawyers who are still paying down the steep price of their educations. And while student debt is especially hard to get rid of, there are a couple of recent programs that could help, depending on your circumstances.
*** CBA leadership approves $200K for economic assistance to members
On May 9, the CBA Board of Governors approved spending up to $200,000 to help members navigate the economic downturn. While the new Economic Task Force is still receiving survey responses, so far, the committee will consider spending the rainy day funds on:
- Economic Assistance - help with dues and job searches, $25 CLE coupon for new for members admitteed to the Bar this spring, CLE discounts from sections and local bars;
- Stress Management - inform members of their three free counseling sessions with Colorado Attorney Assistance Program;
- Communications - new Career Assistance Web site (http://www.cobar.org/index.cfm/ID/21242/CYLD/Career-Assistance-Center/), member survey, special e-newsletter;
- Networking - developing online social networking and support groups and
- CLE Programs - geared specifically toward economic opportunities.

*** CLE in Colorado $25 coupons available for all those who passed the Feb. 2009 Bar Exam
The Task Force allocated a portion of its budget to cover the cost of $25 CLE coupons which were given to the new admittees on Monday, May 18 at the swearing in ceremony. If you were unable to attend the swearing in ceremony and would like a coupon, please e-mail Heather Clark at hclark@cobar.org.
