Vacancy Notice: ABA House of Delegates Representative

The Colorado Bar Association will have three (3) vacancies in its delegation to the American Bar Association ("ABA") House of Delegates.  With more than 400,000 members, the ABA is the largest voluntary professional association in the world.  The control and administration of the ABA is vested in the House of Delegates, the policy-making body of the association.

Duties include traveling to designated cities to attend each House meeting, participating in its proceedings, and discharging the House’s responsibilities.  Delegates are to keep the CBA informed of House actions and, to the extent possible, of matters pending before the House.  The meetings Delegates would attend are:

• The ABA Annual Meeting in early August (one to two-day meeting);

• The ABA Mid-Year Meeting in early February (one to two-day meeting);

• The CBA Board of Governors meetings (typically May and November, with special meetings sometimes required).

The term of appoint­ment for Delegates is two years, beginning in mid-August 2011. Subsequent terms are for two-year periods.

Expenses for travel and a per diem allowance are paid by the CBA for the ABA meetings; expenses are not reimbursed for the Board of Governors meetings.
