Legal Nurse Consultants
The American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC) has defined legal nurse consulting as a specialty practice of the nursing profession. AALNC does not recognize legal nurse consultants (LNCs) as a special category of paralegals.
There is not a lot of familiarity with this profession within the legal community, and so the information the CBA has is limited to what you will find on this web page. We are told that law firms which specialize in workers compensation and medical malpractice are typically the kinds of law firms which employ LNCs.
The Connecticut Bar Association has an article in the December 2005/January 2006 issue of Connecticut Lawywer entitled The Legal Nurse Consultant: The Future of Legal Assistance. Colorado Bar Association members can access this article through Casemaker. Go to the Connecticut Library, click "Browse" next to "The Connecticut Lawyer," choose "2006-01," and then "2006-01 Connecticut Lawyer - Ruder."
