The baby Great Horned Owls were photographed nesting a few feet from Ed Nugent’s house outside Mack, Colorado in April 2005. Nugent used a Sony Cybershot digital camera with a Zeiss 2.8-4/7-28 lens. The owls are adaptable birds that are native to North and South America. Young owls move onto nearby tree branches at approximately six weeks and start to fly at about seven weeks. Nugent has been practicing law on the Western Slope since 1978, focusing on criminal defense.
