Colorado's state champion Regis High School's Mock Trial Team traveled in May to Missouri for the National Mock Trial Competition in St. Louis. They took with them Columbine High School remembrance ribbons, which were donated to the CBA by Safeway and King Soopers for the team to trade at "Pin Night" before the competition.
Judith Slason recently joined the Legal Aid Foundation and COLTAF as the executive director. Judith had previously served as director of alumni and community relations at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

CBA COMMITTEES AND SECTIONS
The ADR Forum Committee's topical luncheon will highlight international mediation and arbitration on Tuesday, June 8, at noon. The luncheon will be held in the CLE large classroom, 1900 Grant Street, Third Floor, in Denver. Speakers include Van Elmore (moderator), L. Richard Freese, Jr., Harry Arkin, Jim Nelson, and Breckenridge Grover. The cost is $15 for non-members and $12 for ADR Forum Committee members. The Small Business Entities Subsection of the Business Law Section will present a CLE program at noon on July 12, with attorney Linda Lodenkamper speaking on trade names and trademarks. Participants are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch. One general CLE credit is anticipated. The program is free and will be held at 1900 Grant St., Third Floor, Denver. The Government Counsel Forum Committee will sponsor a program entitled "State and Local Government and Endangered Species: Cases and Controversies" in the CLE classroom, 1900 Grant Street, Third Floor, Denver. The tentative date is June 22. Call Julie Schofield at the CBA for more information.
The Interprofessional Committee and the Denver Medical Society will present a program entitled "Physician Accountability and the Patient From Hell" on June 23 at the University Club in Denver. The evening will include a light buffet and cash bar. The cost is $25; CLE credits are anticipated. The Arapahoe County Bar Association ("ACBA") welcomes newly appointed Eighteenth Judicial District Court Judge Gerald J. Rafferty, who was sworn in March 31. He will be in Division 5 at the Arapahoe County Justice Center and will handle domestic cases.
The ACBA Annual Meeting and Golf Tournament will be held at the Wellshire Golf Course and Inn in Denver on June 18. The tournament will have a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m., with a social hour at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. The golf fee is $80, including dinner. Without dinner, golf is $60. Dinner only is $25. Robert Cooper, an attorney in Broomfield, recently received the Boulder County Bar Association ("BCBA") John Robert Marshall Award, presented at the annual Boulder County Legal Services luncheon in April. The award is named for the late John Robert Marshall, a Boulder attorney who dedicated himself to serving the poor and under-represented of the county.
The Denver Bar Association's ("DBA") Annual Party will be held on June 16 at the Colorado Historical Society in Denver. Free soda and hors d'oeuvres will be available, and annual award winners will be announced. For reservations and details, call the DBA at (303) 860-1115.
The DBA will co-sponsor the Celebration of Educational Excellence graduation ceremony on June 17 at the Tivoli Center on the Auraria Campus in Denver. The ceremony and following reception honors young adults living within the foster care system in Colorado who have overcome tremendous challenges to graduate from an educational program. The DBA welcomes new Denver District Court Judge Gloria Rivera, who was sworn in on April 22.
The First Judicial District Bar Association ("First J.D.") will hold its monthly CLE luncheon program on June 8. The program will include the annual legislative update. CLE credit is anticipated. Call (303) 279-5568 in Golden for more details.

Attorneys and legal service providers in the Ninth Judicial District Bar Association held "Jailhouse Rock V" and a silent auction in Glenwood Springs during April to benefit Garfield Legal Services. Garfield County's "10 Most Wanted" were jailed and bailed, with Allen Rayne acting as the judge.
Larimer County Bar Association golfers are getting ready for a tournament to benefit Colorado Rural Legal Services on June 10 at Ptarmigan Golf and Country Club. Call Sue Thurber at (970) 498-6348 to register. On June 18 and 19, the Larimer County Young Lawyers will participate in the annual Superstarts competition to support Larimer County Partners. The Pitkin County Bar Association sponsored a program entitled "Overview of Recent Colorado Contracts Law Cases" in May, with J. Dennis Hynes and Mark Loewenstein, both professors at CU School of Law.
The Weld County Bar Association ("WCBA") is online! Check out their new website at <www.cobar.org/locbar/weld/ index.htm>. The site was developed by Weld County member Jeffrey Robert Burns, with the assistance of the CBA. Features of the site include a history of Weld County and a membership list of WCBA members.
MINORITY AND SPECIALTY BAR ASSOCIATIONS
The Asian American Bar Association of Colorado held its Annual Minoru Yasui Scholarship Banquet on April 16 at the Empress Seafood Restaurant. Tom Migaki, director of the Colorado Motor Vehicles Division, was the recipient of the 1999 Minoru Yasui Award for service to the community.
The Colorado Criminal Defense Bar honored Doug Wilson with the 1999 Jonathan Olom Award on May 7. Wilson received this award for his general commitment to the highest ethical and legal standards.
