Hurricane Harvey has devastated the Houston area and much of southeastern Texas. We have all seen the tragic images and footage of many people who are struggling for their lives and families. Times like these require prompt action by those who are in a position to help. The Colorado Bar Association Young Lawyers Division is calling on its members across the state to assist those who have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey. In particular, the CBA YLD is commencing a week-long fundraising drive for Lone Star Legal Aid, an organization that will provide free advocacy and legal representation to Hurricane Harvey victims in the difficult weeks, month, and even years to come. However, in addition to the typical problems associated with providing disaster relief,  Lone Star’s Houston headquarters suffered a devastating explosion and fire during the Hurricane aftermath, crippling its ability to assist Hurricane Harvey victims. They are hurting, and they need our help.

 

Here’s what we are asking you to do. At the end of this week-long fundraising initiative, Friday, September 8, the CBA YLD will donate 100% of your contributions to Lone Star to help them rebuild and provide necessary legal services for the thousands of Hurricane victims. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to all those who have been affected by the Hurricane. Please consider making a donation—any amount will make a difference.
