Program Description: Rules 1.15A - 1.15E of the Colorado Rules of Conduct require that lawyers who are entrusted with the property of clients and third persons in the practice of law must hold that property with the care required of a professional fiduciary. In this session, we will discuss the practical implementation of Rules 1.15A - 1.15E, common mistakes, and tried and tested solutions from regulation counsel's perspective. If you manage your firm's trust account or supervise others who manage the firm's trust account, this session is for you.
 
Objectives:
Discuss the requirements of Colo. RPC 1.15A-1.15E.
Analyze common ethical issues that arise in managing client trust accounts.
Outline best practices for managing client trust accounts.

Margaret Brown Funk, Senior Deputy Regulation Counsel. Ms. Funk supervises the trial division of the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel. She previously assisted in the supervision of the intake division, attorney admissions, continuing legal and judicial education and human resources.  Ms. Funk graduated from the University of Denver College of Law in 1994 after graduating from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1991.  She was a member of the employment law firm King & Greisen, LLP, when in 2006 she left private practice to join the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel as a Trial Attorney.
 
Bryon M. Large, Assistant Regulation Counsel. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver and his undergraduate degree in Spanish from the University of New Mexico.  Prior to working at the Court, Bryon worked in private practice as an immigration attorney for over nine years. Bryon is an elected member of the Board of Governors and the Chair of the LGBT Working Group for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).  He has previously served as the Chapter Chair for the Colorado Chapter of AILA, and currently serves the Colorado Chapter as the Ethics Chair.  Bryon has also served as the Chair of the Immigration Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association, and is the Immediate Past President of the Colorado LGBT Bar Association.  Bryon's passion in life is being a father to his two children.
