Over 25 years have passed since a bomb ripped through the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. The explosion killed 168 people, including 19 children who were in the building’s day care center. In this hour-long CLE, United States Magistrate Judge N. Reid Neureiter will detail his experience serving on a team of court-appointed defense counsel for Mr. Nichols, a defendant and co-conspirator in the Oklahoma City bombing, in one of the most famous death penalty cases tried in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.

United States Magistrate Judge N. Reid Neureiter

Judge Neureiter was appointed United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Colorado in August of 2018. For the twenty years before that he was an associate, partner, and of counsel at three Denver law firms, most recently serving as Of Counsel at Wheeler Trigg O'Donnell for six years. His practice involved all kinds of civil work, including class actions, bad faith insurance defense, medical malpractice defense, complex commercial disputes, breaches of contract, theft of trade secrets, securities fraud and employment disputes. Through his professional career, Mr. Neureiter has tried to be involved in important pro bono work, including working as a cooperating attorney for the ACLU of Colorado. Mr. Neureiter moved to Colorado in 1996 from Washington, D.C. to be on the defense team for one of the defendants in the Oklahoma City Bombing death penalty case. He served as court-appointed counsel in that capacity for two years. Before moving to Colorado, Mr. Neureiter was an associate at the Williams and Connolly firm in Washington D.C. where he had clerked for United States District Judge Stanley Sporkin.
