As undocumented immigrants face a change in policy that is increasing the risk of deportation, the question arises of what options may exist for their documented children to stay in the United States. This presentation will discuss powers of attorney, guardian and conservatorship proceedings, proceedings for the allocation of parental responsibilities, and potential options involving psychological parents as ways of providing legal care for such children outside the foster-care system when undocumented immigrants face possible deportation.
