  • Talk about the Good Regulatory Practices Chapter
  • Talk about the advisory committee to which the speaker has been appointed under Chapter 31.22, paragragh 4 (a follow onto the 2022 committee under the NAFTA), and its mission.
 
Speaker: James E. Nelson
James Nelson is a retired attorney and engineer. His practice focused on corporate counseling; international business development and transactions; and international intellectual property protection. He is a registered patent attorney. James is presently active as a neutral in resolving disputes acting as an arbitrator, mediator, or evaluator. He also is a member of governing and advisory boards appropriate to his experience and expertise.
Formerly, James was in solo private practice and, before that, of counsel with the law firm of Lindquist & Vennum LLP in Denver, Colorado. His practice consisted of advising companies on doing business in other countries, Prior to Lindquist & Vennum, James was international counsel and then vice president and general counsel with responsibility for the legal affairs of the Gates Group of companies (flagship: the Gates Rubber Company).He has acted as an arbitrator and supervised arbitrations in the UAE, Australia, Belgium and England. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London).
