Join us for the 18th Annual Alternative Dispute Resolution Conference. The conference will offer an engaging and informative experience for ADR professionals of all levels, combining tried-and-true practices with fresh perspectives, inclusivity, and insights into emerging trends.
Highlights Include:
- Keynote address by Oladeji M. Tiamiyu, Assistant Professor of Law at DU, and explorer of emerging technologies and ideas impacting conflict management and dispute resolution. Oladeji Tiamiyu will discuss why promoting procedural fairness is of greater importance and relevance in an era where technology and ADR are increasingly interconnected.

Breakout #1: Tricks of the Trade - Reaching Yes for Mediators: A Microscopic and Telescopic Discussion of the Philosophical and Mechanical "Tradecraft" of Victorious Mediation It’s important for every mediator to perfect their own style, but there are both 30,000-foot views of the endeavor that greatly impact effectiveness, as well as specific tools to deal with the myriad of thorny problems that can arise. Chief U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael E. Hegarty will share the insights he has gained while mediating approximately 1,400 cases in the U.S. District Court since February 2006, including tips to help you think quickly and adjust your course when the unforeseen is presented. |

Breakout #6: Thinking Outside the Box: Working with Neurodivergent Families in ADR Settings Issues such as learning differences, ADHD, autism, and mental health diagnoses can create acute stresses for families. As a result, a good number of families with children or parents experiencing these issues find their way into domestic relations court, presenting unique challenges for professionals in the field of domestic relations. This presentation addresses ways to identify and successfully navigate those challenges in an ADR setting. |

Breakout #8: The Art of Setting Boundaries in Mediation: An Essential Skill for Facilitating Meaningful Dialogue The Art of Setting Boundaries in Mediation workshop is a skill mastery training that focuses on setting and maintaining effective boundaries in the mediation setting. This highly interactive training provides participants with practical methods for increasing their clients' sense of safety, leading to greater openness, empathy, and honest sharing during the mediation process. By mastering the art of setting and maintaining boundaries, mediators can enhance their ability to manage anger, build trust and rapport, and create an environment that supports collaborative dialogue and problem-solving. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to better sense boundary violations and respond to them with firmness and compassion. |
