On July 1, 2024, SCOTUS issued its decision in Trump v. United States holding that a President has absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for the exercise of the President’s core constitutional powers and presumptive immunity from criminal prosecution for any other official acts taken by the President while in office. Join University of Colorado Law School Professor Douglas M. Spencer, Ira C. Rothberger Chair in Constitutional Law, for his analysis of the decision and the Court’s reasoning in getting there.
