12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

The Divorce Tax program is an hour-long CLE that breaks down the often-overlooked tax traps triggered by divorce and the equalization of the marital estate. The presentation walks attorneys through common pitfalls involving property transfers, timing of equalization payments, retirement assets, and business interests—highlighting where tax exposure is most likely to arise. Through analysis of real world case studies Steve Cizik will highlight how a tax analysis can assist with identifying undisclosed assets and clarify taxation consequences for Mediators and Family Law Judges to a client’s advantage. Attendees will leave with practical strategies to identify issues early, structure settlements more tax-efficiently, and reduce unintended tax consequences for their clients.
