Guardianship Nomination and Power of Attorney Clinic
February 13 | 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Village Exchange Center, 1609 Havana St., Aurora, CO, 80010
Are you a trusts and estates or elder law attorney looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Please join us at the upcoming power of attorney and guardianship nomination form clinic at Village Exchange Center. Metro Volunteer Lawyers, the JEDI Section of the Elder Law/Trust and Estates Section, and Village Exchange Center have partnered to bring a power of attorney and guardianship nomination form clinic to Village Exchange Center's clients. Village Exchange Center is a community center that assists between 600 and 800 families per week. In 2024, VEC helped 28,000 people who had recently immigrated to the Denver/Aurora area.
We will assist members of the immigrant community to complete medical powers of attorney, financial powers of attorney, guardianship nomination forms for their minor children and Delegation of Power by Parent of Guardian Pursuant to C.R.S. ยง 15-14-105 Forms.
We will utilize Village Exchange Center's Cultural Navigators as Spanish translators. We will provide forms for the attorneys to review with the clients. If you are a notary, please bring your notary supplies. If you have other members of your team who are notaries or who are bi-lingual in English/Spanish that would like to assist, please invite them too.
VEC currently has 33 clients who are interested in the clinic, so we would like 20 volunteer attorneys, so that we can serve all of these clients over the three-hour clinic.
If you are able to help, please email Liz Jones ([email protected]) at Metro Volunteer Lawyers to let us know that you plan on attending.
In your email please include:
- Your full name.
- If you are able to attend for the whole three hours or the time period that you can attend.
- If you speak Spanish or if you will need a translator to assist you.
We hope that this first clinic is a great success so that we can bring this same service to other non-profits that serve the immigrant community throughout the state.
If you have questions about the clinic, please email Liz Jones ([email protected]) or Christine Stroup ([email protected]). We hope you can join us!
