Adam Foster serves as Special Counsel at Hoban and Feola, where his practice focuses on the representation of landowners and business owners in commercial transactions. He also acts as a mediator for general business and cannabis industry disputes.
Adam was born in Grand Junction, Colorado and grew up in Littleton, Colorado. He received a B.A. in Anthropology in 1998 from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he completed a semester abroad in Guadalajara, Mexico and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. After graduating from college, Adam worked at Keystone Resort in Summit County, Colorado for three years in Property Management and directing the Lodging Training department.
Adam returned to the University of Colorado at Boulder to attend law school, receiving his J.D. degree in 2004. At law school, he served as the Articles Editor of the University of Colorado Law Review, won the CU-DU Cup Mock Trial Competition, and received the Legal Aid Award for Outstanding Advocate. Adam worked throughout law school, performing research on environmental justice issues for the Natural Resources Law Center, researching mediation ethics and the psychological aspects of negotiation, and working as a law clerk for a small Boulder firm specializing in civil litigation, land use issues and the representation of athletes.
Upon graduation, Adam worked for four years in the Denver office of a national law firm with over 200 lawyers. His practice involved a wide array of litigation matters including representation of business owners in contract disputes and personal injury cases, land use and toxic tort litigation, product liability cases, construction defect suits, suits against governmental entities under the state Governmental Immunity Act and federal civil rights statutes, defense of professional liability cases, workers' compensation defense, and appellate practice. Adam became a sole practitioner in the fall of 2009, focusing on general civil litigation, entertainment law, business transactions and the representation of closely held companies.
He joined Hoban & Feola in September of 2010 because he was attracted to the Firm’s mix of a sophisticated practice coupled with the collegial atmosphere and personal touch of a smaller Colorado-based firm. He is licensed to practice before all Colorado State courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the state Office of Administrative Courts. His published appellate cases include BB&C Partnership v. Edelweiss Condo. Assn., 218 P.3d 310 (Colo. 2009); and Avalanche Indus., Inc. v. Indus. Claim Appeals Office, 166 P.3d 147, 153 (Colo. App. 2007), aff’d, 198 P.3d 589 (Colo. 2008).
In his free time, Adam enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including skiing, camping, hiking 14ers, bike riding and gardening. He speaks Spanish fluently and enjoys travelling internationally and within the U.S. He volunteers regularly, providing pro bono legal referrals through the Colorado Lawyers Committee Legal Nights and Project Homeless Connect.
