Introducing Loren Brown as the 2015-16
Colorado Bar Association President

DENVER—On July 1, Loren Brown will begin his one-year term as president of the Colorado Bar Association, representing the association’s 18,470 members.

At 38, Brown is the youngest attorney to hold the post of CBA president. He is also likely the first to present his presidential theme as a hashtag: #TheFutureIsNow. Brown believes that it’s critical for the future of the CBA to engage law students and young attorneys. He wants to strengthen bar membership by focusing on the value of the association. In fact, he’s already formed a law school committee that is working closely with CU and DU, and a focus group will be created to better determine what aspiring and new attorneys want. He also hopes to make the CBA a more diverse and inclusive organization.

“The bar, the profession, the practice—everything is changing,” Brown says. “Five years from now, it will not look the same.”

Brown is a founding shareholder at Ciancio Ciancio Brown, P.C., where his practice is 100% litigation with a focus on wrongful death and personal injury, criminal defense and commercial litigation. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado and his J.D. from the University of Denver. Brown served as the president of the Adams Broomfield Bar Association in 2008. An active member of the CBA, Brown graduated from the COBALT program in 2010 and served on the Board of Governors from 2010 to 2012. He currently sits on the 17th J.D. Access to Justice Committee and the Metro Volunteer Lawyers board.  In 2012, Brown was awarded the Gary L. McPherson Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year award from the CBA’s Young Lawyers Division.

When Brown isn’t leading the legal profession into the future, he loves to spend time with his wife Jaclyn Casey, a commercial litigation partner at Lewis Roca Rothgerber LLP, and his twin 9-year-old sons. And, he and Jaclyn are expecting another son in August. Brown occasionally finds time to fish, ski and golf, too.

About the Colorado Bar Association

The CBA, founded in 1897, is a voluntary bar association with more than 18,000 members—almost three- quarters of all attorneys in the state. The CBA provides opportunities for continuing education, volunteering for the legal and civic communities, and networking for those in the legal profession while upholding the standards of the bar. The CBA also works to secure the efficient administration of justice, encourage the adoption of proper legislation, and perpetuates the history of the profession and the memory of its members.
