Legal Professionalism Month

The Colorado Supreme Court, with the support of the Colorado Bar Association, has declared October as Legal Professionalism Month in Colorado. The aim of the month is to encourage members of the legal profession, professional entities, and judicial officers and staff to rededicate themselves to demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism and integrity and promote public confidence in the profession and the court system.

Professionalism (as defined by the CBA/DBA Professionalism Committee) is conduct reflecting the values embodied in the Colorado Attorney Oath of Admission, the Colorado Principles of Professionalism, and the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct.  These values require attorneys always to act competently, civilly, and with integrity and to commit themselves to the public good and to furthering the interests of justice.

The Colorado Principles of Professionalism includes the ability for lawyers to provide effective and efficient representation of clients. The Arapahoe County Judicial District offers a wide range of free legal services and programs for litigants. This CLE will explore the various offerings in civil, domestic relations, and criminal cases. The Presenters will explain the program or service, detail eligibility guidelines and provide information on referral processes. Being able to refer clients and pro se litigants in Arapahoe County to free and low pay services helps maintain professionalism in our legal system by providing access to services.
