The 2016 Class Project Season to Bid: A Fundraiser for Civil Legal Aid to Benefit Legal Aid Foundation of Colorado

As summer winds down, and fall approaches, the Colorado Bar Association Leadership Training (“COBALT”) 2016 Class is excited to unveil its service project, Season to Bid: A Fundraiser for Civil Legal Aid.  Our goal is simple: to raise as much as $20,000 to benefit the Legal Aid Foundation of Colorado, one of the funding sources for Colorado Legal Services (Colorado’s civil legal aid program).  And, thanks to the kindness and generosity of our amazing donors—Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, LIVE NATION, AEG Live Rocky Mountains, and the Colorado Mammoth—we’ve made this a win for the Foundation AND a win for you!

HOW YOU CAN HELP RAISE MONEY

To meet our goal, we’re holding an ongoing online auction of tickets to a wide range of concerts, sporting events, and other shindigs at www.biddingowl.com/cobalt2016  This site includes all the details you need to bid – the event name, number of tickets, event date, venue, and minimum bid. You will then have a limited time to bid (remember, the money goes to the Legal Aid Foundation – the higher, the better!).  Instructions for registering and using Bidding Owl can be found at www.biddingowl.com/cobalt2016

OUR FIRST AUCTION STARTS . . . NOW! JOURNEY & DOOBIE BROTHERS and COLDPLAY!

This fall the CBA will choose up to 20 practicing lawyers from around the state, at various levels of experience and in different specialties, to join the Colorado Bar Association Leadership Training Program (COBALT). COBALT is an interactive leadership training program designed specifically for lawyers with demonstrated leadership skills and commitment to the legal community.  Not only are class members taught leadership skills, they also learn how to address challenges faced by leaders in the legal community and the general community.  The program’s goals include: nurturing effective leadership with respect to ethical, professional and community service issues; building relationships among legal leaders from across the state and from across experience levels; and raising the level of awareness among lawyers regarding the broad range of issues facing the legal profession.

The Colorado Bar Association Leadership Training Program (COBALT) application/nomination form is available online. CBA members with interest, can apply directly or be nominated by a colleague. The forms are not used during the selection process and there is no consideration based on whether an application was nominated or applied directly.

As you can imagine, there will be many more applicants and nominations than spaces available and we will make every effort to honor our commitment to diversity in geography, areas of practices, age, gender and ethnicity.  We will send all applicants and nominees a formal COBALT application, review all applications, and then select the members of the 2017 class by October 1, 2016.
