Diversity in the Legal Profession

The Diversity in the Legal Profession (DILP) Committee is comprised of dedicated attorneys from the Denver and Colorado legal communities as well as representatives from the University of Colorado School of law and the University of Denver College of Law.  Its mission is to break down the long-standing barriers that have prevented diverse attorneys from succeeding in the legal profession.  DILP's goal is to cultivate diversity within the legal community and work with law schools, law students, practicing lawyers, and legal employers throughout Colorado to promote diversity at all levels.

Pledge to Diversity

The Colorado Pledge to Racial and Ethnic Diversity was originally signed by a group of leading Colorado law firms in April 1993 and has been updated and reconfirmed on several occasions since.  Its purpose is to set forth clear, realistic, and attainable goals for the enhancement of diversity in Colorado law firms.  Leading firms agreed to join together in this undertakings because it was apparent that, despite individual efforts and good intentions, law firms had been unsuccessful in achieving the level of diversity that they wanted and should attain.  As a result of signing the Colorado Pledge to Diversity, more than 20 of the most prominent firms in Colorado have agreed to recruit and hire people of more diverse backgrounds to fill their ranks.
